A long standing rumor has been that the infrastructure of the Polynesian resort could result in a total shut down of some of the buildings. Much like Horizons, fanboys assume there are sinkholes under every noteworthy structure on Disney property. That doesn’t seem to be the case at the Polynesian Resort, nor was it the case over at Horizons.
Having said all that, Disney is still planning a major refurbishment to the Polynesian Resort. With construction expected to begin before the end of the year, it is anticipated that every room will be renovated. It looks like this will be done piecemeal but it will certainly be an accelerated process all things considered. Look for more updates as they become available.
Between Bay Lake Tower, and the Grand Floridian DVC, it’s nice to see that the monorail resorts have been getting some love.
