Our last day of the trip, and we knew we didn’t want spend too much time fighting the crowds in Disneyland.  We went there first thing to grab Space Mountain Fastpasses, but much to our dismay both Space Mountain and Indiana Jones Adventure were down.  I had wanted to go on Star Tours so I did that, and then both Marie and I maxed out on Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters.

In deference to Disney World, it seems that Disneyland has a tendency to understate their wait times.  I think this is more of a product of not sending through people with the red wait time checker cards as frequently.

We made our way over to California Adventure after this to watch Sig and Edgar Hansen (Deadliest Catch) at the Chef Showcase Stage.  While they were an odd choice for the Food and Wine festival, Marie is a big fan of the show.  I enjoy it as well, but often she saves it on our DVR for when I’m recording the podcast.  Anyways, they made several references to being family friendly and then subsequently crossed the line with playful banter.  It was a really cool thing to see, and helped to make up for missing the Craig Ferguson taping yesterday.

While we did the normal things in California Adventure, we also explored the Animation Academy a bit more.  We walked through the Sorcerer’s Workship, where it was revealed that I’m most like Jiminy Cricket, and Marie is most like Jane from Tarzan.  Over at Turtle Talk with Crush, I was singled out as Tubular Tim.  Crush also mentioned that I had a sea urchin on my chin (beard), and that I was the one responsible for him “making bubbles”.  The last thing we saw in the Animation Academy is the zoetrope for Toy Story.  This is a series of models that are spun on a turntable and then with the help of a strobe light, come to life at 18 “frames” per second.  See the youtube clip below from some idea of what this looks like.  It was pretty impressive.

Earlier in the day we saw what appeared to be a teenage girl being chauffeured around by a Disney cast member.  We saw her again later with several people following her.  Apparently she was famous, but I didn’t recognize her.  All I know is that it wasn’t Sig or Edgar Hansen.

The window seat on tomorrow’s flight home has already been determined based on the viewing of Aladdin a Musical Spectacular from 5/27, but it should be noted that in the show we saw today there was both a Lost and an American Idol reference.

We had dinner at Pizza Oom Mow Mow, and given Disney World’s pizza, I was pleasantly surprised.  Marie had the Fusilli Chicken, because as Kramer would say, “She’s Silly”.  Of course I felt obligated to follow this up with a trip on the Silly Symphony Swings.  It’s nothing special, but it looks so much better than the Orange Stinger.  After doing a few more things at Paradise Pier we left the park, but not before watching Magical from the main drag at California Adventure.  It’s safe to assume that because we left on Saturday, World of Color will have its first soft opening on Sunday.
